Learn about the basics of Buddhist philosophy, its iconography (“writing in images”), rituals, aesthetics, and patronage, and in the end, even learn a little more about ourselves.

Visiting Scholar: Ivette Vargas-O’Bryan, Associate Professor of Religion (Asian Religions), Austin College

Bio: Dr. Ivette Vargas-O’Bryan is an Associate Professor of Religion in the Department of Religious Studies at Austin College. She has two master’s degrees (Sanskrit and Indian Studies, Religious Studies) and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Harvard University with a specialization in Indian and Tibetan Buddhist Studies, and a subspecialty in Hinduism. She has received numerous grants as well as scholarships and teaching awards.
