Film is one of the most powerful ways to give voice to so many untold stories in the community and to share the artistry that abounds in the Asian American community. It is also an important medium to Against The Grain Productions - it’s what inspired our founders to develop our cause and our mission.
Through screenings of co-founder Tammy Nguyen Lee’s award-winning documentary Operation Babylift and our partnership with film festivals around the country to help support and promote the work of today’s Asian American filmmakers, Against The Grain hopes to entertain, engage and enlighten the community while also raising funds to benefit our various causes.
The Film that Started It All: Operation Babylift
"What is lost can hopefully be found"
Throughout the year, we partner with schools and non-profit groups to share screenings of Operation Babylift: The Lost Children of Vietnam around the globe to provoke meaningful conversation about identity and adoption.
Upcoming Film: Light of Day
Following the international acclaim of Operation Babylift, ATG will begin pre-production in 2016 on Light of Day, our newest documentary film project, which will give voice to another set of controversial and untold stories of domestic violence against Asian women and children.
Asian American Film Screenings
We also partner with film festivals around the country to celebrate and support Asian and Asian American filmmakers and their art. Film screenings allow us to bring everyone in the community together to share in the rich diversity of Asian culture through film.
